About Us

Everything we do comes from a place of care and connection.

Our Story

The Somali People’s Association of British Columbia (SPABC) is a community-based non-profit that was created in 2019 by and for the Somali community in BC. Our goal is to support Somali individuals and families—especially newcomers, seniors, youth, and refugees—as they build their lives and futures in Canada.

More about our Story

We are a non-profit, Black-led association focused on serving Somali newcomers, families, youth, and seniors through inclusive, community-based programs. Our work includes refugee resettlement support, digital literacy, youth mentorship, senior engagement, cultural events, and advocacy. Everything we do is rooted in our language, culture, and values, with a strong commitment to dignity, connection, and opportunity. Since our founding, SPABC has continued to grow as a trusted community space where Somali Canadians can come together, share their experiences, and build a better future for the next generation.
